1. French side does NOT have the same menu system as the English.
  2. Both sides have a working category system. Simply by creating the categories, you will get a listing of all posts in that category using this URL scheme:
    1. http://www.sldinfo.com/fr/category/<category-slug>/
      1. E.g. – http://www.sldinfo.com/fr/category/en-bref/
    2. For English side, the /category/ part is not required:
      1. E.g. – http://www.sldinfo.com/inbrief/

This e-mail is to let you know that the navigation system for SLD has changed. You can control the navigation here: http://www.sldinfo.com/wp-admin/nav-menus.php. I will explain a bit about the new system and can prepare documentation, or be available for a tutorial some time if you would like. In the near term if you have questions or need something added to the navigation, just let me know.

(Screenshots attached ). The new system is one that is built into WordPress natively. You can:

  • choose a list of pages/categories
  • search by typing a page/category and it will narrow down results while you type
  • drag and drop to order pages
  • drag and drop to arrange nested parent/child relationships

I believe it is easier to work with than the old system. I had worked on this a while ago but it never made it to the live site.

Some other added benefits:

  • It is also easy to add a link. The old system did not allow us to add custom links, rather, only pages that existed in the system could be used as links.
  • With the last navigation system, any new pages were automatically added to the navigation. Lots of pages get created but not all show up on the nav. Thus, the new page needed to be added to a list of pages to exclude. This is no longer the case.

The French categories mimic the English. If something doesn’t look quite right, you are probably viewing a page instead of the category. To fix, just link to the category. Here’s an example, the post listing from the ‘entrainement’ category:
