Industry is stepping up efforts to introduce weaponised unmanned ground vehicles, with several manufacturers recently stating their intent to enter this niche market space.
Unlike ground robots that have been used in bomb disposal roles for decades, UGVs integrated with a weapon system – including machine guns and missiles – are still in their infancy and despite ongoing studies and live trials, no military has fully committed to their widespread adoption.
